The Plea of a Gnarled Tree – Poem

woman tree

.

. I’ve been thinking about you a lot

You capture attention – mine surely got caught

So, here’s my reaction to your heartfelt plea

The plea of a gnarled and exhausted tree

.

This detail won’t stroke your ego

It won’t make too many mentions,

but the road to hell is paved with details,

or is it ‘with good intentions’?

 .

Never mind…

I know you mean well,

Still, one cannot ‘good-deed’

Their way out of hell…

 .

Even so…

.

In doing good we must leave no stone unturned

Yet, Grace is a Gift which cannot be earned…

This gift is not carved into tablets of stone

We cannot reach peace on our own…

.

Bread can be hardened, and yet

You can never turn stone into bread…

The truth’s independent of one’s belief

If you bite into stone, you will break your teeth

 .

Some say truths are many, but how many are there?

And how can those ‘truths’ contradict one another?

.

There is only One… for the old and the youth

.

“What makes me think that I’ve met the Truth?”

I am Free Finally – I take that as a proof

There is mercy and grace for those who repent

Even to the gnarled trees that are twisted and bent.

Mirage, Marriage, Memoir – Poem

Mirage
He looked good and had a lot
So, she entered the mirage
Only, she had failed to notice
Ugliness & lack, inside

Their mirage turned to a marriage
From hell – especially for her…
Technically, it was not a marriage
She was not the only girl

Damn! Had she known before
Man! Had she shut that door
Now, things are not as they were
And there’s another… inside of her

They remain together
Every day is deader
Well, at least for her
He just doesn’t care

She is black & blue,
Although born to the white race,
With red cigarette marks
All over her face…

‘She’s such a good girl’, they say
‘How?! She doesn’t smoke’, they ask
They don’t want to dig too deep,
She feels safe behind her mask…

Many years ago,
Mum & dad (without a dime)
Saw their ‘once upon a time’…

giphy (1)
Very quickly, in one voice,
They approved her choice
They knew she would share the good life
‘Yes, our girl’s a rich man’s wife!’

Only now,
There’s too much drama
For daddy and mama…
And,
They feel like she failed
Because money’s still scarce
They do get their share, but
they spend & they spend…

She is all alone, except…
There is Another inside of her

She is finally getting there
Tired of sweet little lies
Turned to big & bitter crimes
She is bound & very tired,
But she can pretend no more
Keeps on choking on his waves,
But she’s swimming to the shore

There’s a miracle there, for her
Husband doesn’t want divorce, but he doesn’t care
Technically, he is not her husband
Coz she’s not the only girl

Now, she knows…
A graveyard may look like a park
Until you see its grave stones…
Finally, she’s been hurt enough
He’s fractured enough of her bones

Mirage turned to a marriage
Is becoming a memoir…
He will need to find an ashtray
To extinguish his cigar.

My Life’s Long Enough – Poem

time-man trapped

When my time comes (to die)

I want to die with a smile

I want to die young (at heart)

As late in life as I can

.

Throughout my days on this Earth

I want to share life & give

I want to live my life fully

And like I know why I live

.

I want the people to say

That I was honest & fair

& that I loved from His heart

& that my life’s truly art

.

When you say, ‘life is too short’

It just becomes my pet peeve

And when I hear you repeat it

My peace & joy seem to leave

.

To me, it’s like hearing this:

Most High does not have a clue

He gives us big jobs to do

And yet, His days are too few

.

Not me! My life is enough

To do what I’m made to do

It’s in the setting of goals, in love

And then, in following through

.

Oh Yes, I have to agree

Life’s surely too short to fight

Too short to hold on to grudges,

Or to be dead while alive…

.

Yet still, your words have the power

Power to add or abort

And by repeating this phrase so much

You might be cutting yours short

.

I’d like to lock this advice

Within your heart & your mind,

But I’ve no PIN access code

Just PIN this life-giving quote

Stop fearing death (poem)

Everybody dies someday

“How?” is the question, not “When?”

To Live Well & to Die Well

Should be the goal here. Amen.

Happy New Year!!!

Daughter of the World – Poem

Poems about women

She was a daughter of the world, my dear…
Who else did you hope you would see her be?

She was a daughter of the world, you know?
Yes, you knew she was – she did tell you so

By the way she moved, by the way she spoke…

You said she was the one, then you took her home
Aware of who she was – the daughter of the world

So why would you blame her for your fall?
She was a woman of the world, after all…

You believed you could resist because you were strong

You engaged in her deceitful talk – a little too long

She was falling; of course she made you fall

Extremely fast and extremely low.

You opened the door of your universe for her
Wide open – to be torn apart as she entered there

She was a child of the SKY –
A beauty of the Beast, but you… came

From then – within His beautiful temple

Right into the present – un-covered… in shame

Your muse was nothing less and she was nothing more,
but a totally faithful daughter of the unfaithful world

‘Wahala’ was her name. ‘Wahala’ she was called

She was a daughter of the world –
With all her heart, her mind, her soul…

Set her free… Why won’t you, baby?

Set her free… …In Him…
She is no longer who she used to be.

Meaning of “wahala”: Trouble 😳

OMG, I Love Your Hair!

Beautiful Girl with Beautiful Hair

.

OMG! I love your hair!

I hear, yet again

.

Question:

Is IT an artistic or political statement?

‘None of the above’, I claim…

Question:

‘Is it really yours?’

‘Yes, I guess. I didn’t pay’

.

‘Amazing! Great!’

‘Although,’ (me again)

‘I can’t keep it when I’m dead.

So, can I really say it is mine…?

Yes, I guess, but no – it’s not…’

.

Here, a pause… It’s followed by

An awkward & ironic smile.

Uncomfortable silence falls

Until… another passes by…

Right now, she hears – “Rapunzel, Wow!”

‘What a queen indeed. Your hair is so fly.’

.

‘Yes, I know…’ I hear her say…

With every tooth on full display

The Hair Show must go on, with another muse…

.

Oh, Lord – don’t let me be misunderstood,

You’ve blessed me indeed with long and thick hair

Even in those places where hair should be spare.

Yet,

My eyes have seen this amazing crown

Pulled with so much hate amongst pain and lies…

Shaved, in less than a minute, with a primitive razor;

While Love’s eyes compelled mine to pay close attention!

.

It seems so unfair that,

She pays two hairdressers every single day

Buying IT from her who’s compelled to sell…

So her child can eat, at least one more day…

.

The other one’s hair is the enemy’s nest

She is lacking drinking water; her scalp’s in distress

She is homeless. Yet, on her head, parasites reside

They seek nutrients, in her blood, which they fail to find…

.

Still… My eyes enjoy its beauty –

Long, short, slick, locks, natural and wigs

Just,

‘LOVE’ sounds like an overstatement,

‘LIKE’ meets the expression’s needs.

Story of a Broken Friendship

Have you ever lost a friend?

Well, listen to the story about an umbrella which had lost a very good friend and really took it to heart. This story has a happy ending though. 🙂

Sometimes, when friends leave it is only to make space for the new ones. Yet, the umbrella had to go through stages (sadness, anger,  grief and forgiveness) to be ready for the new friendship which was just around the corner.

Be encouraged by “The Story of a Broken Friendship” which I’ve recently shared with the “Live and Unplugged” audience in London. Thank you for having me, Live & Unplugged! You were a good friend. 😊

The video is a little shaky ☹, but the audio part is really good, so I hope you enjoy it. For the written version of the poem please CLICK RIGHT HERE if you like. B Encouraged

Better, Faster, Stronger

arm-2029989_1280

There’s a type of pain that makes you cry

You might even feel like you’re going to die…

.

You’re looking for help, but there is no point

You’re feeling a pain no one felt before….

And the ones that felt it cannot give a hand

They’re too busy fighting their own type of pain

.

So,

Your mouth is now widely shut, but

Your eyes must be open – looking up…

There is God!

.

Suddenly,

You become better, faster, smarter & stronger

Your mind is much clearer, your body lasts longer

.Finally, you may rest… Finally!

.

And after the rest…

There comes yet another ‘friendly’ type of pain

Your growth must continue. It must start yet again ♥
