My Story as Told… at Mixed-Race Faces

‘Not location, not race and not the skin colour make the basis of a friendship or love but the heart and soul’.

Yesterday, my story was featured @mixedracefaces. It is amazing to me that colour of one’s skin is a problem still and to so many… But then, on the other hand, it isn’t surprising because there are people out there who benefit from division. Those folks as well as individual ignorance keep us fighting with each other rather than celebrating our differences. When is this going to stop?

Well… Those naturally or ideologically divisive groups and individuals won’t change even if they are confronted with a better way. But then, ignorance can be cured (I believe) – with education and/or conversation. Hence, being mixed-race, I feel that it is necessary to talk about these things i.e. diverse cultural expressions or different colours of faces…

Initiatives like this one here encourage and remind me that as much as attempts to divide and conquer are part of this world so are the attempts to unite people… Without further ado, please click here to read my MIXED-RACE FACE STORY Enjoy! 🙂

I See You. Unbroken. – Poem

I hear you…

You have a beautiful way with words

Such an able mind you have,

And yet it’s so sad

.

I see you…

Broken faith, broken dreams

Broken body as it seems…

.

I feel you…

.

I don’t know you, but I do

I’m so human… just like you

I’ve known pain for many years

I believe it rhymes with ‘tears’

.

In my world…

.

Poems, prayers, sermons helped

When I hurt so much I yelped,

And when pain was lingering –

Chronic, constant, deep within

.

I see you…

.

Unbroken. I see you unchained

It is not a word, but I C U unpained

Free from all your tears

And those wasted years

.

I see you…

.

I see you unbroken

I see you unbound

I know you are lost

Yet, I see you found

.

In my Father’s Heart –

In your Father’s Hand

Unbroken.

Better, Faster, Stronger

There’s a type of pain that makes you cry

You might even feel like you’re going to die…

.

You’re looking for help, but there is no point

You’re feeling a pain no one felt before….

And the ones that felt it cannot give a hand

They’re too busy fighting their own type of pain

.

So,

Your mouth is now widely shut, but

Your eyes must be open – looking up…

There is God!

.

Suddenly,

You become better, faster, smarter & stronger

Your mind is much clearer, your body lasts longer

.Finally, you may rest… Finally!

.

And after the rest…

There comes yet another ‘friendly’ type of pain

Your growth must continue. It must start yet again ♥

‘DEALING WITH DEPRESSION’

Dear all,

I hope you are well,

It has been a while since I was able to share with you. Today is a new day though. Please feel invited to read and to be inspired by the article “Dealing with Depression”.

Author of ‘Against All Odds’ Zoe Onah kindly allowed me an opportunity to share my story on her blog DEFYINGMENTALILLNESS.COM . Many years ago, I struggled with depression – it was at a time when I was still very young and in theory should have been spending my time enjoying life… That was not the case then, but the good news is that today depression does not frighten me anymore… Why? Find out by clicking on this link 4 ‘DEALING WITH DEPRESSION’ ARTICLE (CLICK HERE)

Be inspired, and equally check out the blog and the books by Zoe and her husband E. Onah. The most recent title ‘Meditations & Confessions” is written for those who need help to fight fear, anxiety and worry. I have come across their titles on amazon, amongst other places. I had previously read “Against All Odds” and found it to be a book, which indeed shows how to defeat the giant of mental illness, but equally it is a beautiful, well-written romance between a man, a woman and their God.

Be blessed,

Monika 🙂
