There She Goes Away – Poem

doubt, fear

.

Here she comes again…

.

And she takes my peace away

Then, she steals my energy

She says it’s too late for my life to change!

.

Here she comes again…

And I run, so much faster than I should,

Or freeze disabled by ‘I wish I could’

Unable to hear – unable to see…

 .

Here she comes again…

.

She is the cunning first cousin of fear

She’s so slick. Oh yes, she is & her goal is clear

She wants to destroy my faith

When my victory’s near

.

So I doubt…

.

Still I know

If I follow her advice

I… will pay the price

.

If it’s right it is Him

If it’s not it is me

If it’s done it is we…

.

So, I shout:

.

Father! This is the first time when it really counts!

I don’t want to make mistakes

I am so scared I could fail!

Suddenly, I realize…

Whatever He’s promised before

He has always done…

.

So I pray…

 .

I know He remembers me. I know my Redeemer lives!

.

There’s no time to rush

There’s no time to wait

There’s no time to lie to myself

No time to complain

.

Hence, I say:

.

It will be okay, again. I know who I am!

These words paint my future

.

There she goes away…

.

Quick! Before the Drama Blooms! Poem

Drama Trap Pic Final

They have seen too many fights

Teary days & weary nights

.

Respect, trust,

Communication

Seem like ancient arts

.

Instead, there are…

.

Fast flying arrows

By a rebellious Cupid

And mean accusations

Some way beyond stupid

.

Whenever she wins a battle

She knows she has lost

When she opens her mouth

Her heart becomes closed

.

She can’t hear his heart

He’s convinced he’s right

Every common goal forgotten

Overshadowed by pride

.

What are we doing?

Why do we fight?

Where are we going?

Where is the light?!

.

If there was a drama trap

She’d buy it – whatever the price

She would lay them all around them

Like the ones used to catch mice

.

If there was a drama spray

He’d spray it all over their rooms

He would spray before it comes

Quick! Before the drama blooms!

.

Yet, there sure is such a trap

Yes! There sure is such a spray

They remember the old battles

They decide to kneel & pray…

I See You. Unbroken. – Poem

I hear you…

You have a beautiful way with words

Such an able mind you have,

And yet it’s so sad

.

I see you…

Broken faith, broken dreams

Broken body as it seems…

.

I feel you…

.

I don’t know you, but I do

I’m so human… just like you

I’ve known pain for many years

I believe it rhymes with ‘tears’

.

In my world…

.

Poems, prayers, sermons helped

When I hurt so much I yelped,

And when pain was lingering –

Chronic, constant, deep within

.

I see you…

.

Unbroken. I see you unchained

It is not a word, but I C U unpained

Free from all your tears

And those wasted years

.

I see you…

.

I see you unbroken

I see you unbound

I know you are lost

Yet, I see you found

.

In my Father’s Heart –

In your Father’s Hand

Unbroken.

Ayo, Music, Poetry – We Will Overcome!

Ayo & MeToday’s post is a little different, but not entirely. After all, Music is Poetry’s 1st cousin, isn’t it? On this note, I hope you allow me to introduce one of my favorite musicians Joy Ogunmakin.

Ayọ is a fantastic singer/songwriter. Her debut album, released in 2006, reached Double-Platinum status in France, Platinum and Gold in a few other European countries. It was released in America as well. The rest is history… Joy released her fifth record titled “Ayọ” in October this year. Currently, she is touring France with her music. That’s where we met last weekend. It was so much fun! One of the musical highlights of this trip was her concert at Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord, in Paris. It was epic! (as my daughter described it). However, music is more than a job for Joy. Initially, it helped her cope with a rather traumatic childhood caused mainly by her mum’s drug addiction. During the concert, she said: “I had to play music to overcome”.

I didn’t study writing at school. Writing wasn’t something I wanted to explore or even thought I could do, at first. Today, however, it is such an integral part of me that I cannot imagine not writing. Thankfully, I’ve met people who, intentionally or unintentionally, helped me and encouraged me to express myself in this way.  Ayọ is one of those people. We all have something to overcome. I don’t know exactly how far my pen is going to take me, but I also feel like I need to write to overcome so I do.

I have a feeling there’s something you also must do to overcome… What is it, and are you doing it? We may not be trained to do it & the circumstances may not be perfect. We might experience the lack of resources from time to time & 10.000 other reasons to not do what we know we should be doing. We may have 99 great reasons to fail, but we needn’t fail if we do what must be done to overcome. “Don’t be evil” as Google defines their corporate code of conduct, but do it whatever your ‘it’ might be…

If you’re doing what you’re supposed to be doing, the right training, people and resources will find you… Let’s do it, and let’s overcome.

Enjoy this short excerpt from Ayọ’s concert. Be inspired 😊

I saw the gods – poem

death crowned

I saw the gods

.

Fighting each other

Like little old boys

Playing with words &

Playing with bombs

.

I saw the gods

The old & the young

Simpletons & fools

The proud & the Proud

.

I saw the gods

.

Claiming the power

Over life & death

I saw the gods &

I saw them scared

.

I saw evil queens

I saw sluggish kings

Greedy advisers & their royal rings

Aided by strong winds

& powerful wings

.

They seemed far away

Yet, I was concerned

I knew that our world

Was connected to theirs

.

I saw the gods

.

Yes, Attention Paid

I saw the gods

I prayed & I prayed…

.

Then, I saw my God

He said I was blessed

Yes, He said I mustn’t be

Fearful nor depressed.
